Due to the popularity of the original 77mm Close Up Lens, NiSi has unveiled the smaller and more affordable 58mm version for use on lenses with threads of 58mm and smaller.
NiSi's new close up lens kit is a fun, compact and affordable introduction to the world of macro photography. It greatly reduces the minimum focusing distance of telephoto lenses (35 to 250mm / full frame equivalent) to offer a magnification that is close to 1:1 (depending on the lens used).
Image Quality
Traditionally, close-up lenses heavily degraded image quality, but NiSi have used all of their latest and greatest technology to ensure that image quality remains excellent. It incorporates double optical corrective glasses with apochromatic design and a multi-nano coating, to give you uncompromised resolution and a natural colour with almost no purple/green fringing both within focus and in bokeh.
Compatibility
The lens sits in a 58mm screw-in casing that attaches to the filter thread of the lens. Included are 49mm and 52mm step rings, allowing use on most telephoto lenses.
Magnification
The magnification achieved depends on the focal range of lenses – it will be higher with longer focal lengths. The magnification is close to 1:1 at 200mm.
Optimal Use
The working distance using this close-up lens will be roughly 9-22cm and sharpness peaks around f/8-f/11.
Lens stacking
Two close-up lenses could be stack together to get a much bigger magnification. Stacking two of these lenses will not result in any image quality loss. Autofocusing will still be functional even after stacking of these lenses.
